DeKalb woman cited for failure to yield after car collides with house on Sycamore Road

DeKALB – A DeKalb woman was cited for failure to yield after a Jeep she was driving collided with a sedan, which then crashed into a home on Sycamore Road Thursday, said police officials Friday.

DeKalb Police Chief David Byrd confirmed Katie M. Thielk, 29, of the 600 block of Fairlane Avenue, DeKalb, was cited for failure to yield while turning left in connection to the incident, which occurred in the 900 block of Sycamore Road in DeKalb around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

A sedan received front-end damage after it crashed head on into the front of the home at the corner of Ninth Street and Sycamore Road. A white Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV also was damaged in the incident.

Thielk was driving the Jeep, said Byrd.

DeKalb police officials confirmed the report of the incident is not yet complete as of 4 p.m. Friday.

Byrd said the vehicles “weren’t drivable” and tow trucks were called to the scene.
