Daily Chronicle 2021 All-Area Softball Team

Player of the Year – Rose Roach, sr., SS, Kaneland

First team

Emma Friedlund, jr., C/3B/1B, DeKalb – Friedlund hit .341 this year and was a first-team selection in the DuPage Valley Conference.

Christine Venditti, soph., C, Genoa-Kingston - Venditti was a first-team selection in the Big North Conference, hitting .378 with a homer this year. She tied for the team lead with 15 RBIs, made only one error behind the plate, and had a 1.085 OPS.

Olivia Ortegel, sr., 1B, Kaneland – Ortegel hit .395 this season with three home runs and 34 RBIs. She had a team-best 12 doubles, an OPS of 1.091 and was a first-team selection in the Interstate 8.

Paige Collie, jr., 1B, Sycamore – Collie smashed her way into the record books after only one season on varsity, setting the single-season home run mark with 13. That also makes her the all-time leader in career home runs. She hit .484, drove in 29 runs from the leadoff spot and scored 33 runs to earn all-I-8 and All-State honors.

Mary Todd, sr., 1B, Indian Creek – The senior fielded her position well and hit .341, was named team MVP and earned first-team honors in the Little 10.

Amanda Dubeau, sr., 2B, DeKalb – Dubeau led the Barbs with a .486 batting average and was on the DVC academic and all-conference teams.

Carly Kline, jr., SS, Genoa-Kingston - Kline hit .449 this year and had an OPS o .983. She was a first-team selection in the Big Northern Conference.

Olivia Stoker, jr., CF, Kaneland – Stoker hit .430 for the Knights with two homers and 20 RBIs. She had a 1.033 OPS and was a first-team selection in the I-8.


Brooklynn Snodgrass, soph., OF, Sycamore - Snodgrass belted four home runs and hit. 419 for the Spartans, driving in 22 runs and scoring 20. She was a first-team selection in the I-8.

Grace Algrim, jr., P, Kaneland – The Knights used a two-pitcher rotation, with Algrim half of that. She was 11-1 with two saves and a 1.14 ERA, striking out 117 in 86 ⅓ innings with only eight walks.

McKenna Ryan, sr., P, Kaneland – The other half of the Knights’ formidable staff, Ryan was 9-5 with a 2.23 ERA, striking out 53 in 78 ⅓ innings.

Brooke Braden, sr., P/1B, Hiawatha – Braden hit .429 for the Hawks and slugged at a .571 clip. She posted a 2.58 ERA with 118 strikeouts and was all-conference in the Little 10.

Honorable mention - Jaelin Latimer, soph., P, DeKalb; Emily Frazier, fresh., 2B, Indian Creek; Lauren Jordal, soph., CF, Indian Creek; Emily Trzynka, fresh, utility, Genoa-Kingston
