KANE COUNTY – Illinois public health officials on Tuesday reported 75 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths.
That is an increase from the 44 new cases reported Monday and the 49 new cases reported Sunday. The total number of cases in the county is now 9,878. The number of COVID-19 deaths in Kane County stands at 305.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen two days of positivity increases and two days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate remained flat at 4.6%. Currently 36% of medical/surgical beds are available and 49% of ICU beds.
The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. The World Health Organization has said that in countries that have conducted extensive testing for COVID-19, the positivity rate should remain at 5% or lower for at least 14 days.
Illinois reported 20 additional deaths and 1,549 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The state collected 41,362 tests over the previous 24 hours. Illinois’ seven-day rolling positivity remains at 4.1%. Illinois has now seen 196,948 total cases of the virus and 7,657 people have died. A total of 3,106,391 tests have been run.
