Flappy's Pancake House closed in DeKalb

Owners will search for new location as they say landlord did not renew lease

DeKALB — Flappy's Pancake House in DeKalb is closed, and will have to relocate after the building's owner did not renew their lease, said the restaurant owners.

A handwritten note on the breakfast eatery's front door does not include any indication on whether the business will reopen somewhere else in DeKalb or when.

"Unfortunately, due to the landlord's last minute decision, the lease to keep the property was denied and we have to relocate our business," the note reads.

Flappy's Pancake House, 1406 Sycamore Road, is also no longer listed on the franchise's website, which also has locations in Bartlett and Buffalo Grove.

"We are extremely grateful for all the customers that have came here for the past 10 years," the note reads, signed by Andy and Miley Ahmeti.

The building is owned by DeKalb business man Jim Mason, who also owns surrounding property at 1500 Sycamore Road.

This is a developing story, which will be updated as more information becomes available.
