Travel Channel to highlight Crystal Lake Rib House Bloody Marys

Ribs. Sliders. Doughnuts. Cheese. Brats. Those are just some of the items Crystal Lake Rib House uses to garnish its famous Bloody Marys.

“We make a Bloody Mary on Sundays called the Mega Mary,” said owner David Faccone. About two years ago, Faccone said, he started experimenting with the drink and decided to pile on the toppings.

Now the $59, 32-ounce cocktail can feed a crowd.

“There’s six cheeses, salami, pepperoni, a whole BBQ chicken and a slab of ribs on there. There’s a 12-ounce New York strip and a 12-ounce pork chop. There’s a stadium pretzel. ... It goes on and on,” he said.

After sparking headlines across social media, the vodka and tomato juice-based cocktail caught the eye of Travel Channel producers. On Sunday, “Food Paradise” will tape a segment on the establishment located at 540 E. Terra Cotta Ave. in Crystal Lake.

The “Food Paradise” program highlights the best places to find foods at bars, diners and cafes across the nation.

Faccone said he’s excited to show off their Bloody Marys to a national audience. Crystal Lake Rib House holds the Guinness World Record for most garnishes on a Bloody Mary.
