Locals will have to find somewhere else to get their chicken pot pies and meatloaf.
The Crystal Lake Boston Market, 6000 Route 14, closed over the holiday weekend.
Instead of preparing rotisserie chicken and mashed potatoes, employees on Tuesday were busy mopping floors and tossing signage into the garbage.
Boston Market officials could not be reached for comment. The local store manager deferred questions to corporate.
Heather Maieritsch, the city’s economic development manager, said she’s confident the space will be filled shortly, partly because it’s in a highly visible and busy area.
“We’ve been working to market that space so that we can fill it with another restaurant,” Maieritsch said. “We don’t have a lot of second-generation restaurant locations.”
Maieritsch said the building is owned by IRC Retail and is considered part of a nearby shopping center.
Boston Market Corp. is a fast-casual chain headquartered in Golden, Colorado.
The area’s closest Boston Market is in Elgin, 205 S. Randall Road.
