STERLING – A new chiropractic clinic coming to town is something of a homecoming for its owner.

Eric Gaumer is expanding his Morrison practice to his former hometown, where he and his wife and office manager Carrie plan to open a second location Sept. 12 at 3512 E. Linconlway in Sterling.

Gaumer, 39, was born and raised in Sterling, where he met Carrie in 2002.

Today, the couple lives in Morrison, where they opened what they call a “no-fear” chiropractic clinic at 125 E. Main St. in 2014. While some people put their own twist on chiropractic care, Gaumer doesn’t. He prefers the kind of back relief that comes without twisting and cracking.

Gaumer uses PulStar Technology a non-invasive way to realign the spine. A computer analysis helps him create a custom treatment using a wand that delivers gentle electronic impulses to the back, a virtually pain-free adjustment that helps to realign the spine. On its normal setting, the wand delivers a pulse similar to holding an electric shaver; it can be adjusted higher for deeper injuries and lower for children or older people with osteoporosis.

Carrie said this type of treatment tends to last longer and heal more quickly.

“We have had lots of great results. We are happy to offer it here in Sterling,” Carrie said.

Gaumer, who graduated from Western Illinois University, was a meteorologist in Washington, east of Peoria, before changing careers and attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.

As for his philosophy on patient care, he summed it up in a 2015 SVM interview: “My goal is to get the patient better, not to see them over and over. I love helping people, and I don’t like making them wait.”
