Two Oregon High School students, Allyse Ketter and Ellen Reckamp, have been awarded scholarships through P.E.O. International.

Both have been awarded $2,500 P.E.O. International Star Scholarships through nominations by the Oregon Chapter IU and the Mt. Morris Chapter
CU respectively.

P.E.O. chapters could only nominate one student. Nominees were chosen based on leadership, extra-curricular activities, community service, academics, potential for future success, letters of recommendation and student essays. There were 1,868 applications and 520 scholarships awarded.

OHS has had two other Star Scholarship winners: Katy Speck (2013) and Erika Waldsmith (2015).

Also, Chapter IU and CU will each be presenting local P.E.O. scholarships on OHS Awards Night. P.E.O. is a philanthropic educational organization which helps to educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College.
