Forrest E. ‘Luke’ Hudson

ROCK FALLS – Forrest E. “Luke” Hudson, 81, of Rock Falls, died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Heritage Health Care in Walnut.

He was born April 27, 1936, in Golden Gate, the son of Bennie Earl and Emma Jane (Bowman) Hudson. He married Sandra Stigall on Dec. 5, 1958, in Rock Falls. He was employed for 40 years by Union Local 727 as a labor and field rep. He had worked on many area projects, including the building of Sauk Valley College, the Byron nuclear plant, the construction of the high rise in Rock Falls (Plaza I) and the construction of the tollway. He was an avid fisherman, and had enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gardening, and camping, and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy; three daughters, Teresa Sommers of Rock Falls, Cathy Hudson of Rock Falls, and Cheryl (Kevin) Latimer of Chicago; his son, David Hudson of Rock Falls; his brother, Kenneth Hudson of Sterling; his sister, Judy Barnes of Evansville, Indiana; his three grandchildren, Kate Sommers, Kyle Sommers, and Riley Latimer; and one great-grandchild, Zoe Como.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Saxe and Alice Buccola.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, and the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.
