Hodgetts will celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Sam (Sandra) Hodgett of Sheffield will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.

The couple was married Oct. 14, 1956, in Sheffield and first lived south of Mineral. Sam retired from farming in 1999 and Sandra was a homemaker.

Sam played trumpet in dance bands for 70 years and Sandra joined him on keyboard as they performed as “The Hodgetts” for the last 30 years. Sam raced harness horses in more than 2,000 races over 36 years and Sandra won numerous golf championships at Hidden Lake Country Club.

They are the parents of four daughters, Denise Hodgett of LaSalle, Jeanette Cromien of Galva, Jill Marshall of Petersburg and Christine (Shannon) Bumann of Woodhull. They also have five grandchildren, Maria (Sandy) Dimmer of Davenport, Iowa, Benjamin Cromien (deceased), Jack Bumann of Woodhull, Thomas Bumann of Woodhull and William Bumann of Woodhull; and one great-grandchild, Pearl Dimmer of Davenport, Iowa.

The couple will be honored at a family celebration.
