Illinois' COVID-19 case rate is at its highest point since Feb. 10. The number of new daily hospital admissions for COVID-19 has more than doubled from a month ago. But the total number people in hospitals with COVID-19 was down by almost 50 patients compared to Friday.
There are now 13 counties, plus the city of Chicago, that are at “medium” risk for COVID-19, according to new data from the Illinois Department of Public Health released Friday. Illinois also announced the most new COVID-19 cases in a single day since Feb. 4.
This is only the second time since Illinois COVID-19 hospitalization data became public in April 2020 that there were fewer than 20 coronavirus patients on a ventilator.
