Unions donate to IVCC campaign

Illinois Valley Building and Construction Trades Council, Illinois Valley Construction Industry Labor-Management Group and the Illinois Valley Contractors Association donated $1,000 each to the Illinois Valley Community College scholarship campaign. Representatives of the organizations recently hosted IVCC President Jerry Corcoran and elected officials at a luncheon in Ottawa to commemorate the gifts and conduct business meetings. “Every time the college embarks upon a special initiative like fundraising for scholarships, donating labor to enhance special-purpose facilities, or providing equipment and personnel for career-day activities that help students see the connection between education and work, it’s a safe bet that the Building Trades Council, Contractors Association and Labor-Management group will be at the front of the line ready to assist. I am very proud of the partnership IVCC has with these fine men and women because they play a critical role in our ability to carry out the college’s mission,” Corcoran said. With the $3,000 in contributions, the campaign has now raised approximately $485,000 of its $500,000 goal.
