ANNAWAN — Philip A. Wiesbrook, 82, of Annawan passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016.
Philip was born March 27, 1934, in Aurora, the son of Harry and Fabiola (Riedy) Wiesbrook. He graduated from Naperville High School in 1952 and was united in marriage to Mary D. Schofield on June 30, 1956, in Cloverdale, Ill. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. Phil farmed in Plainfield and Mineral.
Phil was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus (63 years). He was a proud member of Local 150 Operating Engineers Union. He also belonged to the Mineral American Legion, the Farm Bureau and was a former trustee of Mineral Township in Bureau County. Phil loved the farm life, traveling, hunting, fishing and a good joke. He cherished his wife, Mary, and any time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary; his children, Linda (Kevin) Lonergan of Bettendorf, Iowa, Lois (Peter) Ritchken of Cleveland, Ohio, Steven Wiesbrook of Plainfield, Sharon (Mike) Post of Brookfield, Wis., Nancy (Anthony) Goodman of Sheffield, Paul (Geriann) Wiesbrook of Joliet, Judy (Craig) Hill of Beaver Dam, Wis., Andy (Wendy) Wiesbrook of Mineral and Scott (Michelle) Wiesbrook of Philo; adored grandchildren, Maureen, Steven and Katie Lonergan, Jake and Brian Ritchken, Matthew and Christopher Post, Victoria, Jonathan and Ryan Goodman, Cassandra and Joseph Wiesbrook, Tyler and Stephanie Hill, Gary Andrews, Alexander and Sophia Wiesbrook, and Nathaniel, Lucille and Elsie Wiesbrook; great-grandchildren, Ronnie and Caleb Baran; his siblings, identical twin brother, James (Georgene) Wiesbrook of Bolingbrook, Mary Wiesbrook of Woodland Park, Colo., Loretta (the late Doug) Spesia of Joliet and Helene (Nicholas) Smiar of Eau Claire, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Rita and Sis Wiesbrook; and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Fabiola Wiesbrook; five brothers, Harry Wiesbrook, Jr. (infancy), Thomas Wiesbrook, Donald Wiesbrook, David Wiesbrook and Arthur Wiesbrook; a sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Jerry Heitkotter; and a brother-in-law, Doug Spesia.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 14, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sheffield, with Father Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Annawan, where military honors will be accorded by the Mineral American Legion Post. Lunch will be served at St. Patrick’s Hall immediately following the burial.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Atkinson, and also one hour prior, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., to the Mass at the church. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
