IVCH Cardiac Rehab Unit achieves AACVPR certification

PERU — The cardiac rehabilitation department at Illinois Valley Community Hospital has been awarded certification status by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) in recognition of the department’s commitment to enhancing its standards of care.

Cardiovascular rehabilitation programs help people with cardiovascular problems (e.g., heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery) recover faster and improve their quality of life.

The program emphasizes exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.

Certification came after IVCH’s cardiac rehab program participated in an application process that required extensive documentation of the program’s practices.

AACVPR program certification is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies.
