ICCU grants $5,000 in college scholarships

Illinois Community Credit Union presented its first-ever college scholarship awards on July 16.

ICCU granted four scholarships; two in the amount of $1,500 each to selected graduating high school students, and two in the amount of $1,000 each to selected continuing education students who are attending an accredited college or university.

ICCU is dedicated to helping young members succeed in life and reach their academic objectives to reach their full potential through this new program. “Knowing that many accomplished young people are part of the ICCU family makes us extremely proud to play a small part in their academic careers,” Thor Dolan, president/CEO of Illinois Community Credit Union, said in a news release.

Recipients of the 2015 ICCU College Scholarship Awards are:

• Raelyn Nicole Galindo, who graduated from Sycamore High School and will study radiation at the University of Iowa.

• Heidi Smith, who also graduated from Sycamore High School and will study agricultural business at Highland Community College.

• Katrina Davis, who is continuing her studies in business administration at Northern Illinois University.

• Myrna Guerrero, who is continuing her studies in nursing at Kishwaukee College.
