Ruth Irene Balluff, 101, a long-time resident of Mt. Morris, died on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon.
Ruth was born on April 14, 1914, the daughter of ‘Bert’ Lewis Albert Davis and Effie Mae (Marteney) Davis.
She married ‘Bud’ Carl Edward Balluff on October 14, 1933 in the family home in Pinecreek Township.
Ruth worked for more than 30 years at McGregor’s Subscription Agency as the head of the foreign publisher’s service.
Ruth’s passion for life, learning, and laughter was contagious and enjoyed by all who knew her.
She loved summers at Lake Wisconsin, winters in Florida, traveling, clubs and activities with friends, quilting, reading, and giving educational programs.
Her generosity helped many students attend college, supported learning and reading, took care of the aged and those who are ill, and provided spiritual growth of youth.
Ruth is survived by her loving family and their extended families; cousin, Joyce Davis, Oregon; nieces, Pat Burbank, North Kingstown, Rhode Island, Gayl Poley, Providence, Rhode Island, and Diane Warran, North Highlands, California; and nephews, Wayne Schelling, Mt. Morris, Kim Poley, St. Louis, Missouri, David Ward, Stockton, California; Brian Schelling, Rochester, Minnesota, and Mike Balluff, Owensville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, and sister, Marie Davis.
Memorial gifts may be made to Mt. Morris Public Library or Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Center.
A private burial service will be held.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Morris.
Finch Funeral Home, Mt. Morris, is assisting the family with the services.
