Cal Baxter

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Calvin E. Baxter, 71 of Winter Haven, Fla., formerly of Princeton, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at his residence.

Calvin was born Nov. 20, 1942, in Erie, Pa., to Earl and Ruth (Anderson) Baxter. He married Linda Barr on Dec. 30, 1989, in Las Vegas.

He worked for LTV Steel for 40 years of which 22 years were at the Hennepin plant, where he became plant manager. He also worked at the Cleveland, Columbus and Indiana Harbor plants.

He was very creative and enjoyed doing plumbing, electrical and carpentry projects with a contemporary design.

Survivors are his wife, Linda; four children, Donald (Diane) Baxter of Granville, Laura (Pete) Galvin of Monee, Tonya Frasco of Granville and Kenneth Kmiec of Plainfield; one brother, Howard (Kathy) Baxter of Erie, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville, with Pastor Karen Karczewski officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the funeral home.
