Binny's Liquor Store in Willowbrook pays $900K settlement

WILLOWBROOK – A woman has been awarded a $900,000 settlement after she was injured at Binny's Liquor Store in Willowbrook, according to a news release from Dixon Law Office.

The news release stated that on May 19, 2009, Murnie Baker, 59, went into Binny's to purchase a bottle of champagne, but before exiting the store she suffered "a severe fall" as a result of a wine bottle that had broken earlier.

She ended up suffering a torn disc in her lower back and injured her shoulder, resulting in three surgeries, according to G. Grant Dixon of Dixon Law Office, who represented Baker.

“She still has continuing problems," Dixon said. "It's somewhat better, but she still has some continuing medical problems.”

Binny's agreed to pay Baker $900,000 to end the lawsuit from the slip and fall injury, according to the release.

A search of settlements and verdicts revealed that the $900,000 settlement is the largest reported settlement ever paid by Binny's Liquors, according to the news release.
