Raymond Justi

MARK — Raymond August Justi, 89, of Mark died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at his residence.

Raymond was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Mark to August and Cleofa (Verardi) Giusti. He married Davina Rose Adler in Boston, Mass. They had three sons, Steven, Paul and Jonathan, and four grandchildren, Samuel, Anson, Catherine and Eden.

He graduated from Mark Grade School in 1938, Hopkins Township High School in 1942, DePaul University, general degree with a Bachelor of Arts, and Loyola University School of Medicine, 1948, with honors and a degree of Doctor of Medicine.

He served with U.S. Navy, V-12, apprentice Seaman, in World War II, 1943 to 1947.

Raymond was an intern at Cook County Hospital in Chicago from 1948 to 1950. He served as a captain (Medical Corps) in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952 in Korea and was awarded the Bronze Star.

He was a resident pathologist for Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass., from 1952 to 1956 and the chief resident in 1955 to 1956. He was on the Harvard Medical School faculty. He served as the attending pathologist in Boston’s VA Hospital from 1956 to 1957. He served as medical examiner in Dade County/Miami from 1957 to 1961 when he was assistant professor of pathology at the University of Miami. He was in private practice in pathology in Miami from 1961 to 1994 teaching appointments in pathology. Ray retired to Mark in 1994.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Sept. 26 at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville, with Father Patrick DeMeulemeester officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Granville with full military honors conducted by the Granville American Legion and VFW.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 26 at the funeral chapel.
