BAINBRIDGE, Ga. — Sarah Dollar, the daughter of Donald and Debra Flanagan of rural Van Orin, was recently named the teacher of the year at Potter Street Elementary School in Bainbridge, Ga. She is a first-grade teacher and has been working at PSES for eight years.
Dollar, a third-generation teacher, received her degree in early childhood education in 2004 from Albany State University and began teaching second grade in January 2005. She received her master’s degree in education from Troy State University in 2006. She has taught kindergarten, first grade and second grade.
Dollar lives in Climax, Ga., with her husband, Greg, and their two children, Holten and Grace. Her great-grandmother, Frances Fetzer, taught in the Metcalf Grade School in LaMoille Township in 1927 and 1928. Her mother, Debra Flanagan, taught in Walnut Grade School, Malden Grade School and LaMoille Elementary School.
