OREGON – Dr. John L. Lund, 56, of Oregon, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, while visiting Makati City, Philippines.
He was born July 16, 1955, in Dixon, the son of Robert Allen and Elizabeth “Betty” (Linker) Lund. He married Freda H. Fletcher on June 11, 1977. That union produced two children, Sarah E. (Lund) Miller and Robert M. Lund. He later married Reva Alber. He more recently married his wife Rebecca Llamis on Jan. 16, 2007.
John graduated from Polo Community High School in 1973, Sauk Valley Community College in 1975 and Illinois State University in 1977.
He then went on to graduate summa cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, in October 1980.
He began his career in Sterling in 1980, then in 1982 moved his practice of Lund Chiropractic to Rock Falls. In the late 1990s, he worked with Dr. Duane Meyers of ChiroMed, formerly of Sterling; Dr. Ronald Williams, formerly of Rock Falls; and currently with Dr. Cass Headon of Medcare in Rochelle.
John had served as an officer with the Prairie State Chiropractic Association and was a former member of East Coloma School Board. He was a member of Central Christian Church of Dixon, where he served as an elder. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping, fishing and hunting. John also was an amateur magician and enjoyed performing for people.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Llamis Lund; stepfather, Armond Ocker of Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; daughter, Sarah (John) Miller of Mount Sterling; son, Robert (Rachel) Lund of Morrison; grandchildren, Luke and Aaron Miller and Brady Lund; brother, James (Susan) Lund of Chatham; nephews, Matthew and Gabriel; and niece, Zara.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., Monday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon, with Dalmus Meeks, pastor of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls, officiating.
