Nicholas Scholl

Nicholas Scholl, 64, Polo, died on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at his home.
 
He was born on April 10, 1947 in Hinsdale to Marie Flora, and then adopted at the age of 17 by Elmer and Gertrude (Fossler) Scholl.
  
He graduated from Polo High School. 

He then proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. 

When he returned, he graduated from Morrison Institute of Technology with a degree in drafting. 

Later he worked at Central Quality and Lawrence Brothers as a draftsman. 

He retired to farming and gardening. He especially loved his flower and vegetable gardens. 

In his younger years he also enjoyed drag racing his Yenko Camaro.

Survivors include special companion of 25 years, Gail Warnken; sister, Kathy (Arnie) Tyrell, Polo; brother, Dennis Scholl, Chicago; nephew Richard Halfman; in-laws, Barb (Rick) Blackburn, Mt. Morris; Susan and Sarah, Rock Falls; Joyce (Craig) Aska, Oregon; Casey Fry and John Aska, Searcy, Ark.; Laura (Rick) Mick and Chris Heath, Polo; Kathy (Glen) Estrada, Sterling, Randy (Sheila) Shannan and Fallan Warnken, Oregon; Bradley Fogle, Dixon; Riley and Jeremy Warnken, Milledgeville; Liz (Marcel) Brittni and Katie Hutchison, Milledgeville; and his special cocker spaniel named Pokey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard Scholl and Donald Flora; and brother-in-law, Ted Warnken.

The funeral was held on Sept. 27 at Polo Family Funeral Home.  A special military remembrance service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

Cremation rites will be accorded.
