ROCK FALLS – Edward A. Berge, 57, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa. He was an automobile salesman for 15 years, and had worked for Whiteside Chrysler and Dixon Motors.

Mr. Berge was born Sept. 24, 1952, in Sterling, the son of Edward J. and Dorothy (Peak) Berge. He enjoyed drag racing and motorcycle riding. Ed had coached and umpired Tee ball, Little League Baseball, and Junior Tackle Football. He also was the Rock Falls Hometown Christmas Santa.

Survivors include his close friend, Lori Murphy of Dixon; the boys, Scott Berge of Sterling, Shawn Berge of Dixon, Ed (Stacie) Berge of Rock Falls, and Carl (Sherrie) Henrichs of Amboy; one sister, Sue (Lee) Salazar of Sterling; grandchildren, Jake, Josh, Jessie, Kobie, Rhett, Mason, and Kellen; one niece, Christina (Jason) Howell of Fort Levenworth, Kan., and their son, Ethan; and nephews, Lee Salazar and Tim Phillips, both of Sterling, and Joe (Jen) Phillips, and their daughters, Leslie and Emily, all of Dixon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a foster sister, Grace.

Ed wished his body to be donated to medical science. Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Berean Baptist Church, Rock Falls, with the Rev. Roger Carlson, pastor, officiating. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Berean Baptist Church, Rock Falls, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
