Cooking school a delicious success

ROCHELLE – A cooking school for fourth- and fifth-graders was offered at District Teen Town June 22-26 at Flagg-Rochelle Park District. The program was sponsored by University of Illinois Extension Ogle County, in cooperation with the Flagg-Rochelle Park District. Daily sessions were offered with 17 boys and girls from Rochelle Elementary schools attending.

Area youth from Rochelle Elementary School included Brittany Avila, Sharday Brown, Austin Cook, Ashley Corson, Mahalia Freier, Hunter Haggestad, Rachel Anne Larson, Kira McConkey, Zachary Miller, Taylor Nobles, Samuel Norris, Christian Piloni, Tommy Porter, Tristan Scott, Aliyah Stinnett, Kayleigh White, and Alexis Zepeda.

The program was offered as part of University of Illinois Extension’s Family Nutrition Program. Presenters included Mary Beth Christen, family nutrition program community worker, and Melinda Charbonneau, ag literacy program coordinator.
