New Lenox village board to vote on Lincoln Station payment extensions

The New Lenox village board will vote on Monday whether or not to grant an extension of time to pay fees and to execute a final planned unit development plat to the petitioner for the Lincoln Station project.

The Lincoln Station Apartment project was approved in February and is to be located near the Metra Train Station. Talks of the project have been going on for years before.

The Lincoln Station Apartments will add to the continued growth of that area of town which now has a CVS, Starbucks, Joey’s Red Hots and a brand new train station that will be completed in the coming weeks.

The petitioner’s request is to have an extension for 90 days, but Mayor Tim Baldermann said that everything is still moving forward. They also plan to break ground in the spring.

“The fees they have to pay the village for building permits are substantial, " Baldermann said.

Having the extension will allow the petitioner to have their investments in line and closer to when they officially plan to start the project in the spring.

Monday’s board meeting begins at 7 p.m. and this is the first item on the agenda’s order of business.
