Homer Township to host Independence Day parade Saturday

Event will feature more than 3 dozen participating organizations, businesses

The annual Homer Township Independence Day parade is set to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The parade will start at the corner of 151st Street and Parker Road and proceed north to Culver Park where the main grandstand will be, according to a township news release.

The village of Homer Glen and the Heritage Corridor Business Alliance are co-sponsoring this year’s Independence Day parade with Homer Township.

An honor guard, police officers, firefighters, military vehicles and road district vehicles will kick off the parade, according to the release. More than three dozen organizations and businesses will participate in the parade.

Homer Township also said in the release that gubernatorial candidate and state Sen. Darren Bailey, R-Xenia, and other elected officials will attend the Independence Day parade.
