Scholarship opportunities for students in Will, Grundy counties

PJWC’s focuses on service, Morris Hospital Foundation focuses on health care education

The Plainfield Junior Women’s Club is currently accepting applications for its annual scholarships.

Female seniors who attend a high school in Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 may apply. Applications are due March 12.

The PJWC will award the scholarship based on the students’ volunteer service in the community and active participation in their schools.

The Morris Hospital Foundation is offering four different scholarships to students who are pursuing an education in health care.

Students may apply for as many scholarships as they like. They simply need to check the appropriate boxes on the scholarship application.

The Hugo Avalos Endowed Scholarship has a separate application.

Here are the scholarships.

Students who are pursuing undergraduate education in a field related to health care may apply for the $1,000 Carol Harrington Endowed Morris Hospital Foundation Scholarship and the $1,000 Relucio Family Healthcare Scholarship.

To apply, students must be into, or currently enrolled in, a hospital-related health care curriculum at an accredited college, university or vocational/technical school.

Students must also live one of the 19 communities Morris Hospital serves. These communities include Braceville, Braidwood, Channahon, Coal City, Dwight, Gardner, Kinsman, Marseilles, Mazon, Minooka, Morris, Newark, Ottawa, Ransom, Seneca, South Wilmington, Verona, Wilmington and Yorkville.

An Illinois student who has been accepted into or is currently enrolled in an accredited medical school, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant program may apply for the $5,000 Hugo Avalos Endowed Scholarship.

Morris Hospital employees and/or their dependents who are pursuing their education in health care may apply for one of three $1,000 scholarship from the Morris Hospital Foundation.

The Betty J. Sterritt Endowed Fund for Nursing Scholarship will not available until 2022.
