D. 202 in Plainfield announces nominations are open for the 2022 CAPE Community Award.

Nominations are now open for the 2022 CAPE Community Award.

“The CAPE Community Award honors individuals for outstanding overall commitment to District 202 schools and service to the broader District 202 community,” according to a news release from District 202.

CAPE is made up of parents and district administrators. They represent District 202 school and and district-level parents organizations. CAPE stands for the Coordination of Administration and Parent groups for Educational efficiency, according to the release.

The first CAPE award was given in 1983.

District 202 community members may nominate District 202 staff or community member for the award. Nomination deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 24.

The winner will be announced and recognized at the 46th Annual CAPE Award Reception and Ceremony, which is tentatively scheduled for April 20, at Plainfield East High School.

Details about the event will be announced later this winter or early spring.
