A man was arrested in connection with a shooting that led to a three-vehicle crash near the Louis Joliet Mall, police said.

Travion Terrell, 21, of, of the 700 block of Plainfield Road was arrested on probable cause of reckless conduct and reckless driving, according to Joliet police Sgt. Dwayne English. Terrell was charged with the involuntary manslaughter of Travion Frazier on July 13, 2020. Prosecutors charged him with recklessly shooting Frazier in Crest Hill.

Joliet police detectives identified Terrell as the driver of the suspect vehicle involved in the incident.

“Further investigation into this case is currently ongoing,” English said.

About 3:20 p.m. on Jan. 15, officers responded to the area of Ring Road and Tonti Drive for a report of a traffic crash with shots fired, Joliet police Sgt. Dwayne English said.

Officers arrived at the scene and determined that an occupant of a sedan fired a gun on a SUV, striking a 19-year-old female driver, English said.

The SUV then lost control and collided with “an uninvolved vehicle,” English said. This collision then caused the latter vehicle to strike another vehicle, he said.

The 19-year-old SUV driver was taken to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center for injuries not considered life threatening, English said.

Detectives investigating the shooting were successful in identifying the suspect vehicle, English said.

About 6:10 p.m. on Friday, detectives were notified that the vehicle had been stopped by Will County sheriff’s deputies in the area of Henry Street and Akin Avenue, which is in Joliet’s East Side.

After further investigation, detectives determined Terrell was the driver of the sedan at the time of the Jan. 15 shooting, English said.

Terrell had a court hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday and he’s slated to appear for another one at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Will County jail log. Terrell’s bond has been set at $250,000.
