A Crest Hill woman pleaded guilty to the unauthorized video recording of another woman less than month after she was charged with the crime.
On Tuesday, Alexis Renkor, 22, went to the Will County Courthouse for her arraignment on a felony charge of unauthorized video recording and live video transmission and a misdemeanor charge of the same offense.
During the same court hearing, Renkor pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge. Judge Dave Carlson sentenced Renkor to a year of court supervision.
The criminal complaint said Renkor “knowingly placed or caused to be placed” a video recording device in a restroom at her own residence on June 1, 2018, with the intent to “make a video record or to transmit live video” of a woman without her consent.
Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark said his department received a report about the incident in March and police learned of a video that showed the victim, who was 19 at the time, “topless and removing some clothing.”
Investigators were able to interview Renkor about the incident and found the device that was used to record the video, he said.
Renkor “confessed to investigators and subsequently was charged with the charges,” Clark said.
Clark said Renkor sent the video to a former boyfriend and he then sent it to the victim.
