A FedEx employee was hospitalized after he was pinned in a large conveyor belt at a FedEx facility in Romeoville.

Shortly after 1:15 p.m. Monday, paramedics with Lockport Township Fire Protection District responded to the facility at 920 W. Taylor Road, said Lockport Fire Chief Frank Blaskey.

A man was pinned in a roller in a large conveyor belt, Blaskey said. It took the emergency crew 20 minutes to extricate him from the conveyor belt, he said.

The man was then taken by ambulance to a hospital, Blaskey said.

FedEx spokesman Dave Hill confirmed the man was an employee for the company.

“The safety of our team members is our top priority and we are grateful to the first responders who attended to the scene,” Hill said.
