Jalen Denson had 14 kills, Ethan Sampson dished out 11 assists and served three aces, and Plainfield Central rallied for an 18-25, 25-19, 25-23 win over host Plainfield East in a Southwest Prairie Conference boys volleyball thriller Monday night.
Quinn Oehler added five kills for the Wildcats (3-2), while Logan Gieseke tallied four kills, three blocks and two aces. Isaac Gallinero led Plainfield Central in digs with nine.
West Aurora 2, Joliet Central 0: At West Aurora, the Steelmen dropped a 25-13, 25-16 decision in Southwest Prairie action.
SOFTBALL
Lemont 10, Eisenhower 0: At Lemont, Maddy Wallace struck out 14 and allowed one hit and two walks over six innings as the Indians won in nonconference action.
Frankie Rita was 3 for 4 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs to lead Lemont (12 -3) at the plate. Sarah Cliff was 1 for 2 and scored a run, and Lily Schuit finished 2 for 3 with three runs scored.
Bradley-Bourbonnais 2, Lincoln-Way Central 1: At Lincoln-Way Central, Lyndsey Grein homered for the Knights in their Southwest Suburban Conference loss.
Grein struck out 12 as Lincoln-Way Central (15-2, 1-1) lost for just the second time this season.
Andrew 3, Lincoln-Way West 0: At Lincoln-Way West, the Warriors fall to 12-3 overall and 1-1 in the SWSC Red Division.
Marist 14, Providence 1: At Marist, the Celtics dropped the nonconference game in five innings.
Corey Maloney was 2 for 3 with a double for Providence (8-10), which got its only run thanks to a home run from Gianna Russo.
Wilmington 13, Coal City 12: At Coal City, trailing 11-9, the Wildcats scored four runs in the top of the seventh to rally for the Illinois Central Eight Conference win.
Abby Pitts went 3 for 3 with two homers, five RBIs and four runs scored for Wilmington. Jenna Jackson was 4 for 4, Olivia Hansen was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, and Anna Liaromatis finished 2 for 5 with a triple and an RBI.
For Coal City, Natalie Teague had a grand slam, single and five RBIs. Makayla and Makenzie Henline combined to go 7 for 9 with four RBIs.
Joliet Catholic 5, Plainfield Central 3: At Plainfield Central, the Angels improved to 11-6 as Wrigley Fanter went 3 for 3 in the nonconference game.
Charlie Kinsella was 2 for 3 for JCA, and Morgan Bruno went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Andie Broniewicz earned the win with eight strikeouts.
Plainfield Central sophomore Abby DeGrado was 4 for 4, and freshman Tricia Hogrefe finished 2 for 3. Down 5-1 in the bottom of the seventh, the Wildcats got RBI singles from Paige Williams and Makena O’Donnell.
BASEBALL
Lincoln-Way East 6, Bolingbrook 1: At Lincoln-Way East, Joey Boland went the distance on the mound, yielding only one unearned run in the SWSC game.
The Griffins (14-2, 2-0) received a hit from all nine starters. Boland, Jake Petak and Randy Seymour each had a pair of hits.
Lincoln-Way Central 9, Bradley-Bourbonnais 0: At Lincoln-Way Central, three Knights pitchers combined on a one-hitter in the SWSC contest.
Matt Maloney pitched three innings for the win, striking out seven and not allowing a hit or walk. Richie LaCien (two innings, three strikeouts) and Dylan Walenga (two innings, four strikeouts) finished up on the mound for Lincoln-Way Central. Liam Rossi went 2 for 3 with three RBIs for the Knights, who got doubles from Turner Doran, Collin Mowry and Sarthak Shah.
Coal City 10, Wilmington 0: At Coal City, Caden Kuder pitched a five-inning one-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk in the Illinois Central Eight game.
Alec Lovell led the way offensively for Coal City, going 4 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Trent Sandeno (RBI) and Aydan Murphey (three RBIs) were both 2 for 2 for the Coalers.
Wilmington’s only hit came from Justin Walinski.
Lincoln-Way West 7, Andrew 1: At Lincoln-Way West, left-hander Nolan Larson allowed four hits and one run over 5⅔ innings, striking out three and walking zero in the SWSC contest.
Harrison Scroggins and Owen Wolcott each collected two hits to lead Lincoln-Way West offensively.
Joliet West 10, Joliet Central 0: At Joliet Central, Conner Hogan threw a six-inning two-hitter, striking out five and not walking a batter in the Southwest Prairie game.
Ty Batusich led the offense for the Tigers, going 4 for 4 with a double. Isaac Rios was 2 for 2 in the win.
Manteno 7, Reed-Custer 0: At Reed-Custer, Jack Stellano pitched six solid innings in the losing effort for the Comets in Illinois Central Eight action.
Clayton Newbrough had the lone hit for Reed-Custer.
Plainfield South 2, Plainfield East 1: At Plainfield East, Will Morris fired a two-hitter, allowing no earned runs, striking out six and walking one in the Southwest Prairie contest.
Matt Kelliher was 1 for 3 with an RBI for Cougars.
Lisle 5, Peotone 4: At Lisle, trailing 4-2, the host Lions scored one run in the bottom of the fifth and two in the sixth to pull out the Illinois Central Eight game.
Thomas Lynch led Peotone at the plate, going 3 for 3 with an RBI. Mason Kibelkis went 2 for 4, and Austin Massat had a double.
Plainfield North 3, West Aurora 1: At Plainfield North, Brandon Bak (1-1) struck out 10 and allowed just one run, three hits and three walks over 6⅓ innings, leading the Tigers to the Southwest Prairie Conference win.
MJ Ansari got the final two outs to earn his first save of the season. Plainfield North (9-4, 4-3) scored all of its runs in the third. Luke Brown (double) and Dylan Evans were both 2 for 3 to lead the offense.
Joliet Catholic 5, Nazareth 3: At Joliet Catholic, down 3-2, the Hilltoppers rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth of the East Suburban Catholic Conference game.
Dom Coda had a double for JCA (9-8, 4-2). Four pitchers combined to strike out 10. Zach Bebar (1-0) earned the win in relief. Mike Ascencio closed it out, earning the save with two strikeouts.
Gardner-South Wilmington 16, St. Anne 1: At St. Anne, the Panthers improved to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the River Valley Conference.

Lincoln-Way Central 5, Providence 0: At Lincoln-Way Central, the Knights’ nonconference win improved their record to 8-3.
Stagg 6, Lincoln-Way West 1: At Stagg, the Warriors lost in the SWSC action.

Lincoln-Way Central 20, Sandburg 3: At Sandburg, the Knights improved to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the SWSC.

Seneca 66, Pontiac 6: At Seneca, the Irish won eight matches by forfeit. They also received pins from Luke Sangston (106), Collin Wright (145) and Maveric Varland (220).
