Hines Joliet outpatient clinic continuing to vaccinate adults over 18

Vaccination of 12 to 18 year olds at main hospital only

Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital’s community-based outpatient clinic in Joliet is continuing to vaccinate adults over the age of 18 at the clinic.

The Joliet clinic is located at 1201 Eagle St.

Vaccination times are Tuesday, noon to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays. Walk-ins are accepted on both days before 2 p.m.

The Joliet clinic will also give the COVID-19 vaccine from 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays.

The Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital has also opened up vaccination with the Pfizer vaccine to individuals 12 to 17 at its main hospital.

However, vaccination is only for individuals who qualify as caregivers of veterans or are CHAMPVA beneficiaries as part of SAVE LIVES Act, according to a news release from Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital.

In fact, Hines has vaccinated more than 1,900 spouses or caregivers since the passage of the SAVE LIVES Act on March 24, which expanded eligibility.

Vaccinations times are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 5000 S. 5th Ave, in Hines.

To date, 55 percent of Veterans receiving care at Hines VA and its community-based outpatient clinics have received at least one vaccine dose, the release said.

In addition, Hines has also vaccinated more than 410 homeless veterans through special clinics and outreach programs, the release also said.
