More lanes were closed Wednesday as work continues on a project along Essington Road in Joliet.

The work at and around the intersection at Hennepin Drive is part of a traffic signal project in which fiber-optic cable is being installed, city spokeswoman Ann Sylvester said Wednesday.

On Wednesday, two lanes were closed at the intersection, and a lane on Essington Road was closed heading south.

Sylvester said the project will continue for “several weeks.”
