Get a tour of Joliet’s stone and steel past at the Iron Works

Learn how the City of Joliet earned the nickname City of Stone and Steel during a Joliet Iron Works Tour on Nov. 26.

The public is invited to learn Joliet’s history with a tour of the Joliet Iron Works.

The historic site, owned and operated by the Forest Preserve District of Will County, is hosting a tour from 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20.

Visitors can explore the stone foundations of the once-thriving industrial plant that earned Joliet the nickname “City of Stone and Steel.”

A naturalist will share the stories of the men and machines that worked at the site. Ages 16 or older; free. Register by Aug. 17.
