Crews began building the exterior walls at the future home to an Aldi grocery store on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2025 at the intersection of Backbone Road and North Main Street in Princeton. The 20,000 square-foot store could be open by Thanksgiving.

Crews continue work on the site of a future Aldi grocery store located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Backbone Road and North Main Street on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 in Princeton. Crews have been working on the property since April this year. The store is expected to open by the end of the year.

The Princeton City Council meet Tuesday to discuss an ordinance approving the final plat of Michael's Plaza Subdivision with a proposal for Aldi's and Starbucks at the southeast corner of Backbone and Main Street. Starbucks expects to break ground next month with Aldi's construction beginning in the Spring of 2025.

ALDI will host a grand re-opening celebration for its Plainfield store at its new location on June 6 at 8:30 a.m.
