Whiteside sheriff: Two charged with dealing marijuana after fleeing deputies

MORRISON – Two men who sped away from a traffic stop in Whiteside County, face drug charges after being caught in Lee County, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Darquez D. Bonner, 28, of Rock Island, is facing charges of intent to deliver more than 500 grams of marijuana, possession of a 500 to 2,000 grams of marijuana, and fleeing. He is in Whiteside County jail on $50,000 bond.

Passenger Kane K. Jackson, 24, of Geneseo, faces possession and intent to deliver. His bond was unavailable Monday afternoon.

According to the release, deputies conducted a traffic stop around 4 p.m. Friday on eastbound Interstate 88; the pair fled during the stop.

State Police issued an alert and Lee County deputies stopped the vehicle in Dixon, where the two fled on foot, the release said.

Whiteside deputies seized $8,419 in cash and their 2007 Ford Focus, it said.
