Forecast: It’s officially jacket weather

The weekend forecast for the Sauk Valley calls for cooler overnight temperatures — even dipping into the 30s. Time to pull out the jackets and coats.

But weekend daytime conditions will be clear and warm: perfect for attending a sporting event, hiking or fishing, or just picking pumpkins or doing outside yard work, rake in hand.

Today there is a 40% chance for rain before 4 p.m. In any event, it will be cloudy with daytime temps near 59. By afternoon, a north northeast wind will pick up.

It will be clearing into Friday evening, eventually dropping down to 39 degrees. There will a slight breeze.

The National Weather Service says patchy frost is possible in northwest Illinois.

Saturday is expected to be sunny and seasonable warm, with a high of 60. The west northwest winds will increase; expect wind gusts of 25 mph. Overnight the low will be 37 and remain windy.

Sunday will also be sunny and warm, reaching up to 67 degrees. Sunday’s low will be about 41.
