OREGON – Community members are invited to attend a candlelight vigil to honor 7-year-old Nathaniel Burton, who’s death Wednesday is being investigated as a homicide.
Participants will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Hawk Drive west of the school district office at 206 W. 10th St.
Those who would like to share a few words will be allowed to do so.
Nathaniel, son of Bryan E. and Sarah L. (Safranek) Burton and an Oregon Elementary student, was found unresponsive in his bed at 403 S. 10th St. around 2:30 a.m. that morning; he arrived at KSB Hospital in Dixon in full cardiac arrested and was pronounced dead.
An autopsy was conducted Thursday, but specifics on a cause of death are being withheld until the autopsy report and toxicology results are in, which will take about a month, Lee County Coroner Jesse Partington has said.
No arrest had been made as of Sunday.
