DIXON – A 31-year-old Dixon man was arrested shortly before 5:30 a.m. today and preliminarily charged with six counts of possession of child pornography, each punishable by 4 to 15 years in prison.

The investigation that lead to the arrest of Kenneth J. Sims began in June, more charges are pending, Dixon police said in a news release.

He is in Lee County jail pending a bond hearing Thursday.

The state Attorney General’s office assisted in the investigation, the release said.

Sims is a registered violent offender against youth.

He pleaded guilty in Lee County Court on Jan. 9, 2014, to aggravated domestic battery for attempting to strangle a 6-yearold child and was sentenced to 4 years of probation. Three other counts of aggravated battery and one of battery were dismissed as part of his plea agreement.

He later violated the terms and was ordered to serve 240 days in jail.
