Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported one coronavirus death and 171 cases Thursday.

Whiteside County announced the death of a man in his 50s as well as 44 cases with 17 younger than 20, five in their 20s, four in their 30s, eight in their 40s, six in their 50s, and four in their 60s for a total of 6,869 cases, 162 deaths and 5,975 recoveries.

Ogle County had 127 cases within the last week totaling 5,531 cases, 78 deaths and 5,173 recoveries.

Whiteside County has administered 28,499 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 12,222 people (21.97%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 17,925 doses, with 7,672 people (22.42%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 6,768 vaccine doses, with 3,112 people (21.74%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 26,750 doses, with 10,969 people (21.54%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate below 8% for 90 days. The region’s positivity rate increased to 7%.

Currently, 18% of ICU beds are available. This is the third straight day this region is under 20% ICU capacity.

Lee County’s rate stayed flat at 2%, and Whiteside County’s decreased to 9%.

Hospitalizations have increased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 3,581 cases and 40 deaths Thursday totaling 1,292,515 cases, including 21,609 deaths.
