Rochelle hosted the Lady Hub sophomore Invite on Oct. 11 with six teams attending. Rochelle JV took first place, beating Oregon in three sets, Rock Falls in two sets, Genoa-Kingston in three sets and Sterling in three sets.

After pulling away in the first set and scuffling in the second, Dixon rolled in the third set on its way to a 25-18, 22-25, 25-8 win over Byron to remain undefeated in Big Northern Conference play.

Six times, Genoa-Kingston tied Rochelle in the second and deciding set of the contest, only to relinquish the lead. Finally, after pulling even for the seventh time, G-K rallied for a 6-1 run to win the set 25-20 and clinch the match.

The Rochelle High School volleyball team traveled to Genoa Monday night to take on the Genoa-Kingston Cogs.

After falling behind early in the opening set, Newman roared back to win and then carried that momentum to a big lead in the second set in a 25-23, 25-13 win over Oregon on Thursday.
