Letter: The rising budget deficit and national debt

keyboard

To the Editor:

“Spend, spend and spend some more” has become motto of President Joe Biden and a majority of Congress. With a budget deficit of about $3 trillion for fiscal 2021 and the national debt near $29 trillion, the White House and Congress are on a record-setting spending spree.

There will be those who will blame the pandemic for the deficits, but that is a poor excuse. When in fiscal 2019, a year before the virus outbreak, President Donal Trump was boasting about his economy being the greatest in history, the deficit was about $1 trillion.

If the size of the debt does not bother you, then continue to vote for the incumbents responsible this fiscal disaster.
