Letter: Thank you for sharing story

To the Editor:

I was so moved by the amazing story presented by the Daily Herald Media Group journalist Madhu Krishnamurthy. The dynamic tale of a young Algonquin resident whose book titled “Forty Dollars and a Dream” depicts what struggles were experienced by a family leaving Thailand during the Vietnam War. It is more than a captivating article. It is brilliantly written to capture the emotional and cultural changes they had to endures they arrived in the U.S. I am anxious to read this book written by Niphaphone “Laura Robertson,” author and daughter of this family. Thank you for sharing this story with us. It made me realize how very fortunate we are living in this country and how others coming here struggle to achieve acceptance.
