Letter: History will judge Senate Republicans harshly

keyboard

To the Editor:

After watching the impeachment managers’ presentations so far, it couldn’t be clearer that Trump incited the insurrection and urged his supporters to assassinate his own vice president and others in Congress, both Democratic and Republican.

No rational person watching the impeachment could draw any other conclusion. Yet it seemed likely that Trump’s co-conspirators in the Senate would not have the guts to impeach him, and that is exactly what happened.

That tells you all you need to know about today’s Republican Party. With few exceptions, they are empty shells with little or no humanity left in them. They are the party of lies and conspiracies. They hate democracy and are concerned only with staying in power. History will judge them harshly.
