Cardinal Funeral Home in Crystal Lake is hosting a coat drive this month, with the goal of collecting 250 coats and $250.
People can donate their coats from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday until Dec. 20 at the funeral home, 7715 Route 14, according to a news release.
Cardinal is facilitating this event through One Warm Coat, a national nonprofit organization that provides free coats to children and adults who need them.
Last year, more than 260,000 coats were distributed across North America through One Warm Coat. Since 1992, One Warm Coat has worked with volunteers and sponsors to host more than 40,000 coat drives, according to the release.
“We are excited about our upcoming One Warm Coat drive and invite the community to participate and support our efforts,” Coat Drive ambassador Jenna Woody said in a statement. “Because of the ongoing economic crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for coats this fall and winter will be greater than ever before.”
Donated coats will stay in the community, Woody said.
