Fundraiser raises money to help women post-breast cancer surgery

Proceeds go toward therapy garments for women with little or no medical insurance

A Prairie Grove golf league again partnered again this year with a McHenry business to cover the cost of post-breast cancer surgery therapy garments for women with little or no medical insurance.

The Birdies, an 18-hole golf league at Prairie Isle Golf Club, hosts the Golfing for Camis fundraiser each year in partnership with Benchmark Atlantic Healthcare of McHenry, according to a news release. In 2014, a sister golf league from the Cary Country Club also joined the fundraising efforts.

Proceeds from the fundraiser go toward medically correct compression therapy garments to treat breast lymphedema, according to the release.

Benchmark Atlantic, which covers the cost of the fitting services, employs board-certified fitting personnel who assist clients with compression therapy needs, according to the release.
