Woodstock School District 200 starts the school year with six new administrators, including three new principals, two assistant principals and the athletic director for Woodstock North High School.

The new principals include Ryan Doyle at Creekside Middle School, Marivi Galera at Dean Street Elementary School and Christina Sosin at Mary Endres Elementary School, according to a news release.

Doyle, a Woodstock resident and parent, was the principal at Dean Street Elementary School for the past three years. He previously worked as a middle school math teacher in Crystal Lake Elementary School District 47 and an assistant principal in Round Lake, according to the release.

“Middle school is my passion. It’s a time in students’ lives that we can be so impactful. I truly enjoy engaging with staff and families to ensure students build grit and are able to reach their full potential through a wide range of opportunities,” Doyle said in a statement.

Doyle will be joined at Creekside by new Assistant Principal Tyler Carslon, who most recently was dean of students at DeKalb High School, according to the release. He previously taught English at Dundee-Crown High School.

Galera, originally from Spain, also is a Woodstock resident and parent, according to the release. She has been the district’s bilingual instructional coach and curriculum specialist for secondary dual language education for the past seven years.

“As an educator, I believe that the school’s mission is to make school enjoyable, exciting, and safe for the students by providing rich, rigorous, and relevant learning experiences,” Galera said said in a statement.

Sosin, who has 24 years of experience in education, spent most of her career in Schaumburg School District 54 as a literacy coach and most recently as an assistant principal for the past seven years, according to the release.

“I’m very passionate about the idea that it takes a village to create the ideal school experience for children and that the home/school connection is instrumental in educating our students,” she said in a statement.

Suzanne Evenson is the new assistant principal at Verda Dierzen Early Learning Center this year, according to the release. She has more than 20 years of classroom teaching experience in District 47 and Cary School District 26. She replaces Michelle Martin who retired in the spring.

Dave Rose was chosen as the new athletic director for Woodstock North High School where he had been teaching social studies and coaching basketball, according to the release.

Rose said he strongly believes that sports can have a positive educational impact on students and is excited about continuing to develop the athletic tradition at Woodstock North.
