90-year-old Hebron woman in ‘serious condition’ after two-vehicle crash

Preliminary investigation indicates woman failed to yield at intersection of Burgett and Lange roads

A 90-year-old Hebron woman was in “serious condition” Thursday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash northeast of Hebron, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the Hebron woman, driving a 2001 Subaru Legacy, was driving west on Burgett Road when she failed to yield at the intersection with Lange Road and her vehicle collided with a 2014 Dodge Charger, driven by an 18-year-old Lake Geneva man, according to a news release.

The Dodge Charger had been driving south on Lange Road, which does not have a stop sign while Burgett Road does, according to the release.

The woman was flown by LifeNet to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and is in serious condition, according to the release. The teenager was taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with minor injuries.

Neither vehicle had passengers, and both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the release. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors to the crash, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit. The Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District, Wonder Lake Fire Protection District, Richmond Township Fire Protection District and Mercy MD-1 also responded to the crash.
