Tipsy’s Bar and Pizza in Huntley could lose its liquor license after the bar was cited multiple times for noise and licensing violations since opening in February.
Huntley officials on the Liquor Commission will hold a hearing Thursday on recent noise ordinance violations as well as the bar owner’s failure to complete Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training.
The bar, which opened in February, was put on probation with the village for a six-month period in May after violations of multiple village ordinances. If more violations occurred between May and November, the bar could face a fine of $2,500 and have their liquor license suspended for a week, according to the village.
Attempts to reach Tipsy’s owner this week were unsuccessful.
According to the village, Tipsy’s received two violations in late June and early July.
About 1 a.m. June 26, police responded to the bar after a nearby resident complained about loud noise and the owner was cited for the incident.
Huntley’s noise ordinance prevents businesses from operating an amplified sound system that can be heard from a distance of greater than 50 feet without a permit and during quiet hours, which begin at 11 p.m. on weekends.
The bar, located at 10753 Dundee Road, is across the street from several homes.
The owner also was cited for not completing alcohol service training, which is required by the state for those who have a liquor license and employees of establishments with a liquor license.
State law allows villages to suspend a business’ liquor license for up to 30 days for violations of ordinances.
